Caribbean Community (CARICOM) consumers now have access to the CARREX Online Electronic Platform and the live public portal for providing alerts on dangerous non-foods consumer goods on the markets in all fifteen CARICOM Member States. The platform which went live recently can be accessed via www.carrex.caricom.org
OECS ICT Strategy Group Meeting
OECS Member States are taking steps to fully embrace the digital economy. The OECS Commission has formed a special ICT Strategy Group to consider the region’s options for using technology more effectively to facilitate its integration agenda. The group is being chaired by the OECS Director General, Dr. Didacus Jules.
First Caribbean Bloggers Week
Silicon Caribe the award-winning Caribbean Tech Media and Events brand, will stage the first annual Caribbean Blogger's Week across the Region and Diaspora, from December 5th to 10th, 2016. It will celebrate and showcase the power of Digital Influencers of Caribbean + Caribbean descent, who are Bloggers, Podcasters, Instagrammers, YouTubers and other types of Digital Creatives.
Ministers endorse ICT Single Space roadmap
The endorsement was made at a Special Meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development held in Barbados on Wednesday, 21 September, 2016. The Hon. Guy Joseph, Minister of Economic Development, Housing, Urban renewal, Transport and Civil Aviation of Saint Lucia chaired the Meeting.

Acabar con el papel
La Organización de los Estados Americanos (OEA) acaba de concluir una iniciativa para ayudar a seis países de la Organización de Estados del Caribe Oriental (OECS por su sigla en inglés) a digitalizar más de dos millones y medio de certificados de nacimiento que se retrotraen a fines del siglo XIX. Con una inversión de medio millón de dólares, se adquirió equipamiento, se desarrolló software y se entrenó a quienes ingresarían los datos, en Antigua y Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Kitts y Nevis, St Lucia y St Vincent y las Grenadinas.

Grenada PM Urges CARICOM on ICT
Continuing his push for information and communication technology development in the region, Grenada Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell urged CARICOM heads of government to enhance the region’s ability to compete on the “global stage.” Mtichell, addressing the CARICOM Heads of Government meeting at the Buccament Bay hotel in St Vincent, outlined a five-pronged plan for ICT development.

The Government of Grenada is exploring the possibility of engaging Trinidad and Tobago for assistance in the establishment of a state enterprise to advance utilization of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for a more effective Government.
Government of Grenada: PM Mitchell wants ICT to further unite region
Minister responsible for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Dr. the Hon Keith Mitchell wants to use the new Technological Era to drive the region forward. He foresees it having a significant impact on the growth and development of the Caribbean. Dr. Mitchell highlighted the issue during his recent address at the 34th Meeting of CARICOM in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
Caribbean Communications Infrastructure Program to Increase Broadband Connectivity and Promote ICT-Led Innovation Services in the region.
Grenada, St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, in partnership with regional organisations, the Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU), the Caribbean Knowledge and Learning Network (CKLN) and the Eastern Caribbean Telecommunications Authority (ECTEL), launched the Caribbean Regional Communications Infrastructure Program (CARCIP) on Wednesday 26th June 2013, at the Grenada Grand Beach Resort in Grenada. The Program, funded by the International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank, is designed to bridge the gaps in the national and regional information and communications infrastructure and enhance the connectivity of countries that participate.
