Milestones

Step-by-Step Construction of the Regional Platform

IdLAC is a regional process developed and implemented by the countries that comprise the Inter-American Network of Digital Government (Red Gealc), with the active participation of technical teams and high-level authorities specialized in digital government.

2022
Immediate Background

The governments of Latin America and the Caribbean have identified the List of Trusted Lists for cross-border digital signatures as one of the cornerstones of secure cross-border transactions. This milestone stems from a Regional Public Goods project led by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), which was advanced during the Ministerial Meeting held in Lima.

2023
Regional Consensus Documents

The regional consensus documents on digital signatures and cross-border interoperability were approved during the Annual Meeting held in Santiago de Chile.

2024
First Regional Interconnection

The first 39 cross-border procedures between Brazil and Uruguay were presented. Multilateral organizations expressed their intention to coordinate efforts in this area (Ministerial Meeting in Brasília).

2025
Birth of the Regional Digital Citizen

The Regional Digital Citizen Consortium was established (Red Gealc, IDB, World Bank, CoDevelop, OAS). idLAC was piloted with the first successful demonstration of an effective cross-border procedure between Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Uruguay. The number of interconnected procedures between Brazil and Uruguay exceeded 300 with the incorporation of the Single Windows for Foreign Trade (VUCE) (Annual Meeting in Antigua, Guatemala).

Present
Continuous integration

IdLAC continues to grow stronger and to incorporate additional countries within the framework of the 12 governments committed to the project.
